The Blogger Recognition Award

Kind of nervous as I've never written a tag post (does that even make sense?) before! But the lovely Alina from www.alinasirbu.uk was sweet enough to tag me in The Blogger Recognition Award!

Before we begin, here are the 'rules' to the post:

✓ Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
✓ Write a post to show your award.
✓ Give a brief story of how your blog started.
✓ Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
✓ Select 15 bloggers you want to give this award to.
✓ Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them, providing a link to the post you created.

So, how my blog started:
For some reason this is actually quite tricky to answer. Before I had my own blog, I only read one or two blogs here or there. It wasn't something I thought I'd be doing. When I started my marketing degree - I began to understand the power of the internet (excuse the cliché) and quite suddenly felt the urge to have my own piece of it. There and then I bought my domain, blog layout and wrote my first post. That was back in February 2016 and I'm so glad I took the plunge!

Advice for new bloggers:

1. Be Yourself
This is the most important advice. Make sure you show your personality and don't try to be something/one you're not. If everyone else loves a certain product/style, that does not mean you have to too! Most of the blogs I prefer to read are those that show personality, anyone can write how amazing the new blah blah product is - but have a joke with it and show your readers who you are. You're not just a review robot - your real, organic opinions actually do matter.

"Be yourself, everyone else is taken"

2. Don't be Disheartened
This advice is something I would have loved to have heard when I started blogging. Please do set yourself goals, but try to make sure they are practical or you may end up letting yourself down. To be (brutally) honest, don't expect all of your friends/family to be supportive. Some people don't understand having blogging as a hobby. I definitely didn't know how hard it would be to maintain and I'm constantly trying to perfect my blog/instagram so understandably, your friends and family might not know this either. But don't let this get you down. The blogging community is amazing and you will make friends, who have the same 'blogging hobby' as you. They will happily support you and you can ask for advice and learn from each other too!

... on that note. Totally gobsmacked at how many 'bigger' bloggers/blogger networks are now charging for advice! How on earth they can justify that is beyond me, so if you ever need some FREE advice, I'm here for ya X
