BLIXEN - Old Spitalfields Market

Thinking back to why I started this blog, one of my main reasons was to let others know about places that I visit in London. I eat out a lot, it's definitely one of my favourite hobbies because I love food. This is why I've decided to begin my series of food spots that I think you need to try! As you can imagine, most of these places will be based in London. But I'm also looking forward to letting you know about places I eat when I go on holiday/trips too! (Next up, Amsterdam!!)

I'm so glad I now know about this place and I definitely feel the need to share it with you! Blixen is located in Old Spitalfields Market - a place I've only visited a handful of times. The Old Spitalfields Market is home to so many individual restaurants, bars and cafes, as well as well known shops which we all love. Blixen is open 7 days a week, they serve breakfast, brunch, lunch & dinner!

The decor is an absolute dream, I had originally requested to be sat in the conservatory but the day I went it was actually closed during lunch - it was very quiet at the time, so I completely understand! But, I had to have a peek and safe to say, I'll definitely be going back so grab a table in the conservatory!

Th food is so delicious! Both Frances and I chose the seared tuna sandwich from the lunch menu! Which I already had my eye on before we even got there - does anyone else love to look at food menus before you go to a restaurant?! (My friends literally find this hilarious that I do this!) The sandwich was the perfect size, tasted amazing and definitely good value for money at £10.50. I have this thing where whenever I go out for food, I love to order foods which I wouldn't really make at home, so I do normally order fish or meats that I don't regularly have in the fridge! All in all, I'd for sure recommend it - if you're like me, go and have a peek at the menu here > www.blixen.co.uk

Did someone say happy hour? Yep, they have happy hour Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 6:30pm on selected cocktails which are only £5! Which I'm not going to lie, is quite rare to find in central London (sometimes happy hour still means the cocktails are around the £9/10!). I went for the St Hugo Spritz (the one on the left in the photo below!) which is a cocktail made up of St. Germain - an elderflower liqueur, prosecco, mint and lime. This is my perfect kind of cocktail, give me anything bubbly that tastes like elderflower and I'm happy! Definitely a good cocktail for the summer months. Frances chose the Rum Buck - a cocktail made up of Bacardi, strawberry jam and ginger ale! Again, she loved it too! But I think we need to go back and try the rest of the menu...

And if you haven't got the hint already, I really do recommend visiting Blixen! I think I'll be trying their brunch menu next...

Let me know if you try it, I would love to know if you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Love
Kirby
