RUMPUS ROOM: Rooftop Bar at the Mondrian London

A rooftop bar in London? You can count me in! To be honest, I was pretty ashamed I hadn't already been to Rumpus Room as I would like to class myself as quite a rooftop connoisseur... (ok I'll stop now)

I'm sure you've all heard of the famous Mondrian Hotel in London, it's located on Southbank - with a pretty epic view of the city. Perched at the very top of the hotel, on the 12th floor is an amazing rooftop bar - Rumpus Room. Imagine velvet plush sofas, plenty of greenery, a gold bar, marble tables and if you're lucky to go on a Wednesday like I did, then also envision some funky live music alongside the modern interior. As soon as Sare and I arrived, we were greeted by a lovely host who showed us to our table, with an amazing view of London and of the live band!

After already eyeing up a cocktail called Harry's Legacy on their instagram (I told you I always scope a place out before going..!), we both ordered one! The perfect cocktail which was made up of Beefeater London Gin, Saint Germain (Elderflower liqueur), red currants, mint and the perfect touch of citrus! I'm sure you're already watering at the mouth.. because they definitely know how to mix up an amazing cocktail!

Rumpus Room is possibly the best place to enjoy some light bites to eat on the South Bank, the food menu has been paired perfectly to go alongside their British-American inspired cocktails. I opted for the Lobster Roll which tasted amazing! The lobster was delicious and the portion was so generous.. did I say light bite?! Sare went for the Popcorn Chicken, which she said was very tasty! (Empty plates mean only one thing.) But you can bet your bottom dollar we shared a cheese board too.. with so much cheese we had to ask for extra crackers.... no shame!

The staff were on top of everything, I never felt like I was over staying my welcome or that they were interrupting our chats, but never the less they were there to make our visit that extra bit enjoyable. After chatting, emptying our plates & cocktails too.. we decided to have one more drink on the terrace and admire the beautiful sunset!

This time I went for the 'Away From The Craze', which was served in a coupette: made up of a delicious mix of Hayman Sloe Gin, Jensen's Old Tom Gin, lavender port wine, cacao and citrus - yep I really do love gin. I'd never even think to pair lavender with cacao but it worked so well!

If you're ever in London Tuesday- Saturday from 5pm and in need of a slight refresh, then Rumpus Room is the perfect stop, you definitely cannot beat the view, the vibes or the (very) delish cocktails.

I'm so grateful for the opportunity to review such an amazing rooftop bar and will definitely be back! You'll probably find me next Wednesday with a Harry's legacy in one hand and a truffle fry in the other...

ps did I mention the bathrooms?! They speak for themselves....

Thanks again to the Rumpus Room for having me, let me know if you're a rooftop lover like me!

  1. This place looks fab for a light bite and a cocktail - although the light bites don't look particularly light! I love that they had a live band too x
